So you’ve decided to take a family vacation. Well that’s nice. It just so happens that your family consists of you, your spouse and a baby. I wish you the best.
Of course you’re going to be sure that you have plenty of sunscreen available for you and your spouse but what about the baby? Their skin and eyes are extremely sensitive to the sun’s UV rays. Experts advise using wraparound baby sunglasses called ‘broad spectrum’ and sun screen with an SPF of at least 15 when it comes to babies and sunlight.
You may not have to worry about heat stroke as much as your baby does because you hopefully have enough sense to come in out of the hot sun when necessary. Here a few tips for the baby: try to spend plenty of time in air conditioning but be sure baby is warm enough if the air conditioning is excessive; make sure baby drinks plenty of fluids; don’t even get into the car until it’s cooled off; and shade is always better than sun when it comes to the baby.
Loose fitting and light colored clothing is best if you’re vacationing with fun in the sun in mind for both you and your baby.
